Πότε άρχισε η συλλογική δραστηριότητα των Μεσοχωριτών στην Αμερική δεν είναι απόλυτα γνωστό, αλλά είναι βέβαιο ότι από το 1933, ίσως και νωρίτερα, υπήρχε σύλλογος Μεσοχωριτών με την ονομασία της Παναγίας της Βρυσιανής. Όπως αναφέρεται στο βιβλίο των πρακτικών του Συλλόγου των Βωλαδιωτών, το 1935 αποφάσισαν να αλλάξουν το όνομα του Συλλόγου τους, που ιδρύθηκε το 1933, από «Παναγία η Πλαγιά» σε «Άγιοι Ανάργυροι», επειδή προϋπήρχε Μεσοχωρίτικος σύλλογος με την ονομασία της Παναγίας που γιορτάζει την ίδια μέρα.
Οι πληροφορίες, σχετικές με το σύλλογο των Μεσοχωριτών, λένε πως δημιουργήθηκε – και αυτός, όπως κι όλοι οι Καρπαθιακοί σύλλογοι, για να δώσει λύσεις σε επιτακτικά προβλήματα του Μεσοχωρίου και των Μεσοχωριτών στην Κάρπαθο και στην Αμερική. Της ίδρυσης του συλλόγου προηγήθηκε η δημιουργία ερανικών επιτροπών.
Βαλτιμόρη
Το έργο αυτού του συλλόγου συνέχισε η «Παναγία η Βρυσιανή», που ιδρύθηκε το 1955 στην Βαλτιμόρη, όπου ήταν δυναμική η παρουσία των Μεσοχωριτών, με πρωτοβουλία των Εμμανουήλ Ιωαννίδη, Ιωάννου Μοσχονά, Νικολάου Παρού, Εμμανουήλ Μάτσου, Εμμανουήλ Μοσχονά, Ιωάννου Μάλτα και Ιωάννου Μάτσου. Η σύνθεση του ΔΣ είχε ως εξής: Πρόεδρος Ιωάννης Μοσχονάς, Αντιπρόεδρος Εμμανουήλ Μάτσος, Γραμματέας Ιωάννης Μάλτας, Ταμίας Εμμανουήλ Μοσχονάς και σύμβουλοι Εμμανουήλ Ιωαννίδης, Νικόλαος Παρός, Νικόλαος Περίδης.
Στην συνέχεια, στην δεκαετία 1965-75, με την ομαδική μετανάστευση των Καρπαθίων στην Αμερική μεγάλωσε και η Μεσοχωρίτικη παροικία της Νέας Υόρκης και για ένα διάστημα μεταφέρθηκε εκεί η έδρα του συλλόγου «Παναγία η Βρυσιανή». Αργότερα η έδρα του Συλλόγου επανήλθε στην Βαλτιμόρη, όπου οργάνωσε Καρπάθικο γλέντι με συμμετοχή και των άλλων Καρπαθίων της περιοχής και σημείωσε μεγάλη επιτυχία.
Αυτή την εποχή η σύνθεση του ΔΣ είχε ως εξής: Πρόεδρος Βασίλειος Ν. Πέρος, Αντιπρόεδρος Νικόλαος Ε. Μάτσος, Γραμματέας Δημήτριος Ι. Κουλουριώτης, Ταμίας Ιωάννης Ν. Παρός και σύμβουλοι Νικόλαος Ι. Ρείσης, Ιωάννης Ν. Μοσχονάς, Μιχαήλ Γ. Παπαμανώλης.
Παναγία των Κρίνων
Το 1983, όταν ο Σύλλογος είχε την έδρα του στην Νέα Υόρκη, γεννήθηκε μέσα από την «Παναγία Βρυσιανή», ο σύλλογος Μεσοχωριτισσών η «Παναγία των Κρίνων» με πρώτη πρόεδρο την Κατίνα Μάλτα. Μετά την μεταφορά της έδρας της «Παναγία Βρυσιανή» στην Βαλτιμόρη, η «Παναγία των Κρίνων» παρέμεινε στην Νέα Υόρκη και συνέχισε τη δράση της με την ακόλουθη σύνθεση: Πρόεδρος Ρηγώ Μάτσου, Αντιπρόεδρος Φούλα Μαστρογιάννη, Γραμματεύς Κατίνα Μάλτα, Ταμίας Φούλα Πολίτη και σύμβουλοι Μαρία Πρωτοψάλτη, Στασία Διάκου, Πόπη Σταματιάδου, Μαρία Βασιλάκη, που οργάνωσε πρωτοχρονιάτικη χοροεσπερίδα στο χολ του Αγίου Σπυρίδωνα της Νέας Υόρκης.
Οι δυο σύλλογοι συνέχισαν να συνεργάζονται, με την από κοινού οργάνωση χοροεσπερίδων, εορτών, γλεντιών και εκδρομών για να κρατούν την επαφή μεταξύ των Μεσοχωριτών και να εκτελούν κοινωφελή έργα στο Μεσοχώρι.
Μεταξύ των άλλων, η «Βρυσιανή» διαμόρφωσε την πλατεία του χωριού στην Σκοπή, κατασκεύασε δεξαμενή νερού, βοήθησε οικονομικά στην κατασκευή του εκκλησιαστικού μεγάρου, διάνοιξε αγροτικούς δρόμους και βοήθησε οικονομικά το σχολείο και δεινοπαθούντες συγχωριανούς. Επίσης το 1981, ο σύλλογος πρόσφερε $7.000 στο έρανο του Μητροπολίτη Νεκταρίου όταν επισκέφθηκε την Αμερική. Αργότερα, ο Σύλλογος, αποπεράτωσε το κοινοτικό μέγαρο, το οποίο στεγάζει τα γραφεία του δημοτικού διαμερίσματος, το ιατρείο, τον πολιτισμικό σύλλογο και άλλες κοινωφελείς υπηρεσίες και οργανισμούς.
Karpathian Societies in America – Mesohori

When the society activity of the Mesohoritans began in America is not completely known, but it is certain that since 1933, perhaps even earlier, there was a Mesohoritan society with the name of the Holy Mother “Panagia Vrysiani”,. As stated in the book of the minutes of the Voladiotian society, in 1935 they decided to change the name of their society, founded in 1933, from “Panagia Plagia” to “Saints Anargyrous”, because there had previously been a Mesohoritian society with the name of the Holy Mother which celebrates on the same day with the Holy Mother in Volada.
The information related to Mesochoritan society tells us that it was created – like all the Karpathian societies – to provide solutions to pressing problems of Mesochori and to Mesochoritans in Karpathos and America. The creation of the society was preceded by the creation of fundraising committees.
Baltimore
The work of this society was continued by “Panagia Vrysiani”, founded in 1955 in Baltimore, where the presence of the Mesohoritans was dynamic, on the initiative of Emmanuel Ioannidis, John Moshonas, Nicholas Paros, Emmanuel Matsos, Emmanuel Moschonas, John Maltas and John Matsos. The composition of the Board of Directors was as follows: President John Moschonas, Vice-President Emmanuel Matsos, Secretary John Maltas, Treasurer Emmanuel Moshonas and members Emmanuel Ioannidis, Nicholas Paros, Nicholas Peridis.
Then, in the decade 1965-75, with the group migration of the Karpathians to America, the Mesohoritan community of New York grew and for a while the headquarters of “Panagia Vrysiani” moved there. Later the headquarters of the society returned to Baltimore, where it organized a Karpathian “glenti” (feast) with the participation of other Karpathians from the area with great success.
At that time the composition of the Board of Directors was as follows: President Vasilios N. Peros, Vice President Nicholas E. Matsos, Secretary Dimitrious J. Koulouriotis, Treasurer John N. Paros and members Nicholas J. Reisis, John N. Moshonas, Michael G. Papamanolis.
Our Lady of Lilies
In 1983, when the Association had its headquarters in New York, “Our Lady of the Lilies” was born out of “Panagia Vrysiani”, the society of Mesohoritans women, with Katina Malta as its first president. After the transfer of the headquarters of “Panagia Vrysiani” back to Baltimore, “Our Lady of the Lilies” remained in New York and continued its activities with the following composition: President Rigo Matsou, Vice President Foula Mastrogiannis, Secretary Katina Maltas, Treasurer Foula Politis and members Maria Protopsaltis, Stasia Diakos, Popi Stamatiadis, Maria Vasilakis, and organized a New Year’s Eve dance party at the hall of Saint Spyridon in New York.
The two societies continued to work together, with the joint organization of dances, holidays, feasts and excursions to keep in touch between the Mesohoritans and to carry out community projects in Mesohori.
Among other things, “Panagia Vrysiani” reconstructed the village square in Skope, built a water reservoir, helped financially in the construction of the church hall building, opened rural roads and financially helped the school and fellow villagers in need. Also in 1981, the society donated $7,000 to Metropolitan Nektarios’ fundraising when he visited America. Later, the society completed the community building, which houses the offices of the municipal department, the doctor’s office, the cultural society and other public services and organizations.
