ΝΕΑ ΥΟΡΚΗ. Ο Δικέφαλος Αετός στο «νέο λογότυπο» της Ομοσπονδίας Ελληνικών Σωματείων Μείζονος Νέας Υόρκης έχει δυο νοήματα.
Το ένα συμβολίζει τις δυο αντιμαχόμενες ομάδες, ήτοι την «πλειοψηφία» και την «μειοψηφία» των πρώην προέδρων κατά τον ίδιο τρόπο όπως είχε διασπαστεί η Ρωμαϊκή Αυτοκρατορία, σε Ανατολική και Δυτική!
Το δεύτερο νόημα έχει να κάνει με την πρωτοβουλία του Αρχιεπισκόπου Ελπιδοφόρου να φέρει τις δυο πλευρές μαζί σε μια προσπάθεια συμφιλίωσης τους ώστε μαζί να συμβάλλουν στην οργάνωση της εθνικής παρέλασης του χρόνου στην 5η Λεωφόρο.
Το αποτέλεσμα ήταν να προτείνει ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος ως πρόεδρο της επιτροπής παρέλασης τον αντιπρόεδρο του Αρχιεπισκοπικού Συμβουλίου και αυτός εν συνεχεία να διαλέξει δικούς του συμβούλους για να πλαισιώσουν την οργανωτική επιτροπή. Όλοι συμφώνησαν σε όλα και αποχώρησαν.
Την άλλη μέρα όμως η μειοψηφία των πρώην προέδρων που έχει παράτυπα – στο πεζοδρόμιο – εκλέξει συμβούλιο άλλαξε γνώμη με το σκεπτικό ότι η Ομοσπονδία με το να μην έχει δικά της μέλη στην οργανωτική επιτροπή παρέλασης είναι σαν να παραγκωνίζεται από την Αρχιεπισκοπή και να χάνει τον έλεγχο της παρέλασης που ήταν πάντα αποκλειστική αρμοδιότητα της.
Με λίγα λόγια αισθάνεται «καπελωμένη»
Αυτό είναι το δεύτερο νόημα του δικέφαλου αετού στο λογότυπο, σύμβολο του Πατριαρχείου στο οποίο ανήκει η Αρχιεπισκοπή Αμερικής και…όπως πάει ίσως και η Ομοσπονδία!

The presence of the double-headed eagle in the “new logo” of the Federation has a dual meaning.
The 1st meaning could represent the division of the Federation into two entities. The “majority” and the “minority” of ex-presidents, in the same way that the Roman Empire was split into Eastern and Western Roman Empires!
The 2nd meaning refers to Archbishop Elpidoforos’ attempt to bring the two warring parties together with the hope of reconciliation and to move on with the organization of the parade next year on 5th ave.
The Archbishop recommended the V.P. of the Archdiocesan Council to head the parade committee and he in turn would pick committee members of his choice. All present at the meeting agreed.
The next day though the group representing the minority of ex-presidents – who happen to have elected in a questionable manner an administration – issued a statement criticizing the agreement and stating that the organizing committee should be comprised by members of the Federation and not outsiders. They strongly believed that the Parade should be under the auspices of the Federation which historically has been its sole organizer and the involvement of the Archdiocese in such a manner infringes on their control. They considered it a blatant takeover of their organizing responsibilities.
And thus comes the 2nd meaning of the two-headed eagle in the logo which is the symbol of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The Archdiocese of America belongs to the Patriarchate and if the two warring parties continue fighting so will the Federation!
